CHANGE LOG

Here is a dated list of changes that I am making to the website, behind the scenes and customer viewable changes.

2025-01-26

  • Completed Apple Core technical deep dive, only to find it was not finished, sent a note to Marc.

  • Completed Identify ][ v3 and v2 documentation, made v2 a link from v3, in case people were looking for the older documentation.

  • Made additional minor tweaks to several pages, breaking them up into sections to allow them to flow better.

  • Reworked the 8-bit Shack section, converting several pages into “blog” articles. Not using it the way it was intended, but the blog formatting -vs- static page formatting both have their pros/cons, and using each for their strengths.

  • Completed the follow articles from the documentation that Marc sent:

    • TWISTER: Technical DEEP DIVE (re-write)

    • “UNDEAD” TECHNICAL DEEP DIVE

    • WITCH TRIAL: Game INSPIRATION (separated out of the Witch Trial documentation)

    • 6502 Assembler: Double LORES “FIRE” Effect

    • 6502 Assembler: 3D-Engine V.1.10

    • 6502 Assembler: Scrolling the HIRES screen

    • 6502 Assembler: Programming a 3D-Starfield Simulation

    • Champ - N. Harold Cham's 65C02 Profiler (conversion from static page)

    • 6502 Assembler Tricks: Examples for self-modifying code based on the 3D-Demo

    • 6502 Assembler: 3D-Demo (2017)

2025-01-20

  • Re-working the 8-bit Shack Members section and the Documentation, separating them out

  • Put teasers at the bottom of all the documentation pages to tell them to become Shack Members to get even more information.

  • Finished the Undead document import, need to proof-read.

2025-01-19

  • Resolved Shack Members capability.

  • Found and enabled the option to show the “Login / Account” button in the title bar. This is where we can allow people to create accounts (either from ordering, or just wanted to join the Shack Members to get a hold of technical information, or to be added to a mailing list).

  • Moved all technical content into the Shack Members Site (requires they have an account to view).

  • Worked with Jonathan and resolved the Checkout system payment requirements, so we now have an active Shop that people can visit and buy stuff.

  • Laid out a Technical / Shack Members page with all the technical information laid out by product. We have no “blogs” or anything like that yet that is NOT related to a product or library.

2025-01-17

  • Updated to-do lists for Daniel and Marc.

  • Adding Christmas 2024 (Penguins) and Halloween 2024 (Shining) to Demos Page

  • Adding Obulette v2.4, the 3rd iteration of the game and Apple Explosion to store.

  • Adding Murder Manor and Orion Trail to the free-to-download section. Software co-authored with Roby Sherman.

  • Adding MultiDrop Game (Easy and Hard Versions) to the free-to-download section.

  • Adding Daniel Henderson Retrocomputing Vitae page. A curriculum vitae (Latin for 'course of life') is a short written summary of a person's career, qualifications, and education as to retrocomputing.

  • Completely re-hauled the free-to-download section, renaming all the files, using a standard format to know which is which.

  • Adding AppleCore zip file to the Store as an electronic download and floppy.

  • Adding Pieces of Eight Game and Mined Out to the free-to-download page.

  • Resolved issue with product names not being centered with the product images.

  • Implemented a Contact Us form. Content is emailed and stored on the Square Space portal.

  • Implemented a bug reporting or feature request page. Content is emailed and stored on the Square Space portal.

2025-01-16

  • Added to TO-DO List - keep track of what we need to do to launch this site!

  • Added change log .. so team can track what I am doing to the site, accountability and all..

  • Removed Technical Tab/page until we can figure out what we are going to do with it. It only had one button, so I added that to the demo page.

  • Added blurb for Marc to the About page.

2025-01-15

  • Fixed the transparency of home page 8-bit Shack animation. Had to convert it to a gif, speed it up by 2x, then for each GIF animation cell.. remove the background. Stitch it all back together.

  • Added a FAVICON to the website configuration. It is the little icon that appears in your browser tab and in bookmarks list. I might tweak it .. as it supposed to look like a 8 under a roof ..aka 8-bit Shack.

  • Configured the Cookies “Manage” and “Accept” banner that appears when a first-time visitor comes to the site. This is to be in compliance with privacy regulations in place with law from GDPR (European) and CCPA (USA).

  • Removed Jonathans last name from the site, as requested.

  • Added GitHub links for Marc and Greg to About page.

  • Fix all layout issues and grammatical issue that were found by Daniel.

2025-01-13

  • Added social links to the About page, FB, GitHub, website, LinkedIN, BlueSky, YouTube, etc.. Found the related pages for each team member and put them on the page.

  • Added Angry Birds Technical write up to the page. This was the LAST bit of content left from the old site that I was aware of. Finish about 1/4 of the review the page, still need to review the other 3/4 of the content and re-write it in 3rd person.

  • Fix Mobile Site layouts. There are two different versions of the site, but share the same content, but different layouts: Desktop and Mobile.

Everything else to note before 2025-01-12

  • Created “Shop”, and added all software titles and their appropriate costs. Added software downloads and included the latest versions to the site.

  • Create Free to Download Section and linked all items to Dropbox links. Might move to GitHub for better version tracking?

  • Created Home, Demos, Games, and Tools section on the site.

  • Create Services section of site

  • Created an About page, populated it content from the old site, and added the new Team Members with blurbs about each.
